Hello everyone! This is my first post, and I am afraid it will be a bit short, but I promise to contribute at greater length in the future. I have spent the last few weeks casting my mind about to consider just how best to enrich such a blog, and I have settled on my (comparative) strength: literary analysis.
Thus, I will be undertaking a reading program in literature written about America, both by Americans and outsiders, discussing the nature of our country and the development of our identity. I will begin with a book I have had on hold for almost a year, and will obtain this coming month: In Search of the City on a Hill: The Making and Unmaking of an American Myth by Dr. Richard Gamble. I will post my weekly impressions as I read through this book, and will use it as a jumping-off point for examining other literature on the subject.
That’s all from me for now! Expect my first long post sometime the weekend of August 18-19.
