I have just learned that Oklahoma City will be hosting a Black Mass. Not only that, but they have been doing so annually for the past three years in their Civic Center. City officials somehow believe the Black Mass falls under freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Yet, as this article by Archbishop Paul Coakley avers, Oklahoma has anti-blasphemy laws, which is the least of the black mass’s evils. Can one imagine the Founding Fathers thinking in their wildest dreams that the First Amendment would give people the right to enact diabolical practices?
Also, we know that the Satanists must have stolen a Eucharistic host from a Catholic Church. Does the First Amendment also protect a right to steal? Coakley’s article also brings up the fact that the Black Mass is essentially hate speech against the Catholic Church. Would government officials be as eager to rent out that space to the Ku Klux Klan or Neo-Nazis? If a government building being used for hate speech against Blacks and Jews is unconscionable, should not hate speech against Catholics and indeed God himself be equally impermissible in a public building? This public place ought not to used for deeds abhorrent not only to religious people but all good men.
It makes my blood boil to think of the sacrilege they intend to commit with the government’s nod. Do taxpayers give their earnings to the government for this? I encourage all my dear readers to sign this petition (linked here) and do whatever they can to influence relevant persons against it. Most importantly, pray. Pray against this Black Mass and for our country, which must be afflicted by many evils indeed for such sacrilege not only to perpetuate but even to be considered a Constitutional right.
