Our readers surely remember the Bataclan Massacre, which occurred on November 13, 2015 in a Parisian night club. Recently, the news of how some of the slain were tortured by the ISIS terrorists came out. I can well understand that some may wish not to read about such heinous and inhuman deeds, so I leave it up to our readers whether or not they wish to read this article here.
I titled this post “Nefas,” because no English word exactly contains the idea of an abominable act contrary to divine law–of a foul crime which cries out to Heaven for justice. We know that Western countries are carrying out airstrikes against ISIS, but it seems like the war against them is moving very slowly. Why are we not able to annihilate ISIS as quickly as we defeated Saddam Hussein in each of the Gulf Wars?
The only reason for the slow progress which comes to mind, especially since ISIS has territorial boundaries and regular military units, is because our leaders are lukewarm about dealing with the real threat posed by ISIS across the globe. The citizens of countries afflicted by radical Islam are enraged, yet hamstrung by cowardly politicians more willing to attack the Catholic Church than ISIS and social justice warriors, communists, socialists, and other useful idiots of the Left who care more about destroying their own culture than defending their fellow citizens. Why do Western societies now have so many men without chests?
As I think about the heinous massacre at Bataclan, my mind turns to the film The Charge of the Light Brigade, starring Errol Flynn. When the Light Brigade leaves their fort in order to investigate the whereabouts of the Muslim emir Surat Khan, this same emir attacks their fort and slaughters all the women and children there. The Light Brigade returns to see the sad aftermath of the slaughter, and each man vows to avenge the deaths of their dear ones. They finally get the chance at the Battle of Balaclava. Before engaging the enemy, Errol Flynn gives this stirring speech:
Men of the 27th, Surat Khan is on the field with the opposing Russian forces. The same Surat Khan who massacred the women and children of Chukoti. Our chance has come. Show no mercy. Let no power on earth stop you. Prove to the world that no man can kill women and children and live to boast of it. Men of the 27th, our objective is Surat Khan!
We have killed the men responsible for the nefas committed at Bataclan; yet, the evil organization they supported still lives. ISIS has proven again and again, in massacre after massacre, that they will give the Western world no peace. Either their evil empire of slavery, murder, and oppression shall reign or the Western order of peace and freedom. Where is the leader, who, after the fashion of Cato the Elder, shall end his speeches with “ISIS delenda est!” ISIS must be destroyed! Few objectives would secure as much peace and stability in the Europe and the Middle East as destroying ISIS.
